Our School
Western College is one of the oldest private secondary schools in Lagos State. It was founded in 1959. Then it was known as Western College of Commerce. It was founded with the sole aim of providing qualitative education to students, so that they could become good citizens of tomorrow, contributing their own quota to the growth and development of the nation. As a popular Chinese adage goes "teach a man how to fish and he is independent for life." The original location was at 160 Griffith Street, Ebute-Meta. After several years of effort it was moved to 182 Herbert Macaulay street and finally ot its present location at 9/11 Ajayi street, Onititi. This is a safe, serene and conducive environment for learning.
The agitation for the government's approval of the college began in 1968. This yielded result when in 1970 it was formally approved to be awarding the S.75 certificate (commonly known as G4) to deserving students. The management was aware that the college should not stop at that first success. Therefore in 1974, after a lot of hard work, the school was approved to allow students to sit for the June West African School Certificate Examinations. Since then, the school has continued to turn out graduates with excellent results.
